9th April 2011 saw the start of Wycliffe Choral Society's 7th concert tour to Europe. This time to the beautiful Hungarian Capital of Budapest and six days of glorious sunshine, even if tempered by a somewhat chilly wind from the Danube.
As always the tour included some serious singing, sightseeing and socialising as the pictures above will testify. Our concerts in two glorious cathedrals and the Pest parish church were much better attended than previous years, and ended with our best performance on our last afternoon at Belvarosi Nagyboldogasszony Foplebania Church - (we never did manage to master the Hungarian language!)
From there it was a quick hike back to the hotel to change for our trip to the Opera, to listen to someone else singing! Unfortunately rush hour in Pest meant we remained stuck in heavy traffic for an hour and a half, but happily our guide persuaded the theatre to hold the start of the performance until the "famous" British choir arrived!
A superb dinner back in the Hotel Astoria was all that was needed to perfect the end of another successful tour.
